On the 8th day of the 12th month in each lunar calendar year, we commemorate Sakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment and

awakening of perfect wisdom. Thanks to a shepherdess’s offering of porridge, the Buddha regained enough strength

to focus on his contemplation and awareness. Upholding that tradition of generosity and compassion, Fo Guang Shan

Dallas temple will be sharing free Laba Porridge to the public.
