Event description:
The Mid-Autumn Festival, observed on the eighteenth day of the eighth lunar month, is a time-honored occasion that brings together family, friends, and community in a spirit of harmony and reflection. In accordance with Chinese cultural tradition, offerings such as sweet rice delicacies and mooncakes are shared, symbolizing unity and completeness. The younger generation contributes by crafting luminous lanterns or presenting musical performances, adding brightness and joy to the celebration. Through the collective participation of all, the virtues of generosity and gratitude are expressed in living action.
Under the radiance of the full moon, we are reminded of our intrinsic Buddha nature—the inherent purity and perfection that dwell within every being. Just as the brilliance of the moon may at times be veiled by drifting clouds, so too may our inner clarity be obscured by life’s hardships and afflictions. Yet, through the cultivation of right practice and mindfulness, the clouds of delusion are dispelled, and the luminous splendor of our Buddha nature is revealed.
We extend a warm and respectful welcome to all who join us in this celebration. May this festival be not only a time of joyful reunion with loved ones but also an occasion for deep reflection upon the light of wisdom within. As we gather beneath the full moon, let us together nurture compassion, harmony, and awakening in our hearts and in our community.
May the radiant light of the full moon inspire clarity within our minds.
May the virtue of compassion bring peace to our families and our community.
May the wisdom of the Buddha guide us beyond affliction,
And may harmony and joy prevail in every heart.
